Rimage Debuts Digital Manufacturing Center at PMA 07

03/08/2007
Las Vegas, NV - Rimage Corporation (Nasdaq:RIMG - News) today announced the launch of its Digital Manufacturing Center? platform designed exclusively for on-demand digital content delivery at retail. The company debuted the new system at PMA '07 International Conference and Trade Show.

With more and more consumers using the Web to acquire and manage digital photos, video and music, many retailers are looking for ways to participate. The Rimage Digital Manufacturing Center combines the best in content delivery and high-value digital output in one turnkey package, allowing retailers to boost revenues by offering customers several products and services from a centralized location.

The Rimage system produces Hybrid DVDs -- a new format that combines photos with a musical soundtrack or video introduction -- plus conventional photo CDs and music CDs from a complete catalog of music on demand. All these products are produced on the Rimage Digital Manufacturing Center, fully automatically, complete with full color direct-to-disc imprinting.

"Many of our customers have asked us for an all-in-one digital content solution for retail applications," said Manny Almeida, chief operating officer for Rimage. "We are looking forward to working with our partners in the retail and photo marketing categories and helping them realize new revenue streams using the Rimage Digital Manufacturing Center."

Using an embedded computer, state-of-the-art robotics, network connectivity and truly permanent direct-to-disc printing, the Rimage Digital Manufacturing Center represents the future of digital content delivery at retail.

The versatile Rimage system will help retailers cultivate many new revenue streams, boosting profits by offering diverse content and services such as:

Hybrid DVD - A new hybrid format that can store and play photos, video and audio on the same disc. Customers choose a theme, such as wedding or vacation, and set their photos and movie files to music, creating a custom disc that can be watched on any DVD player.

Digital Stationery - Allows consumers to design and print custom, permanent full color disc imprints for their own use. Small businesses can purchase a supply of branded blank discs with their company logo.

Music CDs - Lets retail customers download and burn custom music CDs using a kiosk or Web access.

Digital Tape Conversion - Enables consumers to bring analog home movies on video tapes to retail photo lab technicians for conversion to DVD.

Mobile Applications - Allows retail customers to download and add ring tones, games and other applications to their mobile phone.

Video on Demand - In the future, consumers will be able to create custom DVDs of movies, television and Internet video content. The Rimage Digital Manufacturing Center is ready to deliver that content in a retail setting.

Implementing the Rimage Digital Manufacturing Center in a retail environment is seamless, since the system features flexible hardware and interface configurations to meet a wide range of installation requirements. Retail-specific programming interfaces help retailers quickly integrate the Rimage Digital Manufacturing Center with existing photo labs, customer-facing kiosks and other workflow processes. The Rimage system also has a consumer-friendly user interface for kiosk-based applications.

The Rimage Digital Manufacturing Center consists of the following components:
- Five levels of hardware varying in the number of media, disc bins and recorders
- An embedded control center - no external computer necessary
- An integrated Everest? thermal retransfer printer
- The Rimage Producer III or Producer Software Suite 7.4
- A Digital Manufacturing Center software development kit (SDK) with a retail-specific application programming interface (API)
- A consumer friendly kiosk interface
